When there's a big storm you need a big ski. Powder skis are wider and float through Utah's light and dry powder. Earlier versions of fat skis were made from the same materials as racing skis which meant they were going to weigh a ton. Todays skis are made from much lighter materials making them much easier to manuver plus they won't wear you out in 3 runs.
